Industrial automation & PLC programming in Memphis, TN
Compass Automation is a Memphis-based controls company providing PLC programming, HMI programming, drives, and turn-key automation projects for manufacturers across the Mid-South. When a line goes down, we get it running again. When a system is aging, we plan the upgrade so production keeps moving.
PLC programming
We write, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs on the platforms Memphis plants actually run: Rockwell (Allen-Bradley), Siemens, and Schneider (Square D, Modicon), along with TI, Toshiba, GE Fanuc, and most other brands. Work ranges from small logic changes and added I/O to complete application software for a new machine or line.
Controls retrofits and PLC upgrades. Many facilities still run on processors that are discontinued or hard to support. We migrate those systems to current hardware, convert and clean up the existing logic, and document what we leave behind. We prefer a phased approach, upgrading in stages around your production schedule so downtime stays short.
HMI programming
We develop and update Human Machine Interface applications across all major brands. A good HMI shows operators what they need, such as machine status, alarms, recipes, and production counts, and gives maintenance the diagnostics to find a fault quickly.

Turn-key projects
For larger jobs we manage the whole project, coordinating mechanical and electrical installations. We handle software development, revision control, and support with third-party vendors, so you have one point of contact from design through startup. When a project needs new power distribution or PE-stamped drawings, our electrical engineering team works on the same job.

Local support when a line goes down
If you don’t have the in-house expertise to troubleshoot, we provide both remote and on-site troubleshooting, with support agreements for plants that want guaranteed coverage. Being based in Memphis means on-site help is close for facilities across the metro area and the Mid-South.
